Famous Dave’s Tanner Review

dark01 Famous Daves Tanner Review

Wouldn’t it be great to return to classes with a nice tan without having to pay a big price for it? Well, with Famous Dave’s self tanner lotion, you can. I’m actually a very fair/white person. Haha! In case you haven’t noticed I’m really pale. So, I thought it’d be fun to put Famous Dave’s Dark Self Tanner with Bronzer to the test. You see, in the past, many self tanners have left me orange. Blah.

Well, I applied this tanner just once to see what the results would be. I was afraid that it would make me look weird, so I just put it on my legs one night (since it’s cold, I’m always wearing pants now, so if it messed up, nobody would see it.). I liked that it had the added color so I could see where I was applying. I do wish I had a glove or something to put on my hands while applying it because even though I washed my hands with soap & water immediately after, my palms had an orange-ish tint to them afterward. I also thought it had a light scent. I noticed that the tan started to show up before I even went to bed. However, I waited until the next day to take pictures.

On the left is a picture of one of my legs with the Famous Dave’s Dark Self Tanner with Bronzer applied. I apparently wasn’t careful enough near my feet/ankles or something. I attempted to show you the dark spots I got there. However, that is pretty much the only complaint I have.

Tan Famous Daves Tanner Review

I think it looks pretty good. I didn’t look real orange or fake. Yay! Granted, I’m very pale, so it looked a bit odd to see my tan legs in comparison to the rest of my body for a few days. Haha! The tan seemed to be noticeable for about 5 – 6 days after this only application. I think that’s pretty good. While I think I will elect to remain fair skinned, it’s nice to have the option to be tan.

Disclosure: I received a free sample of Famous Dave’s Tanner for review purposes. No compensation was received. The opinions expressed are my own.

Hi Lindsay, next time you want to get a tan I recommend you to try St Tropez. Gives you a really natural glow, streak-free. Never tried famous Dave’s tanner so can’t really give my opinion on that..

I’ve tried both St. Tropez and Famous Daves. FD Moisture Tan in Dark with Bronzer is muchhh better. And cheaper!

    “Best tanning lotion”

I have been using Dave’s Famous Tanning lotion for over a year now. This is the only tanning product I trust. Just like all tanners, you need to be patient and get the hang of how to put it on properly, but once you get your routine down, it’s great! Exfoliating is the key, and after you shower 8 plus hours later, make sure you use lotion to help hold your tan on longer. DO NOT USE PRODUCTS WITH OIL, i have learned this the hard way, because i Used to get really blotchy, finally figuring out that was the reason.

I know a lot of us have problems with are hands and feet, and we get the glove look. I’d like to share what i FINALLY figured out what works for me.. Apply lotion (non oil) I use eucergin to your hands and a little to the wrist area. when you are doing your arms, and the tanner is ‘almost’ rubbed in, rub your hands, not so much your fingers… there is enough tanner to give your hands some color, and they should not turn orange because of the very little you applied. It will probably take a few times to get it right, but hang in there!

This product does NOT give you the orange appearance..
I completely recommend this product, it’s reasonable in price and gives you a beautiful glow.

    I hope this helped…

This sunless tanner reminds me of Fake Bake. It has a bronzer in it so you can see what you are doing. This bronzer is a more subtle bronzer not as dark as Fake Bake. However, the color you get afterwards looks very similar. With Fake Bake, I feel that it takes longer to dry than Famous Dave’s Tanner.

Famous Dave’s Tanner has my vote. Bought it for a trip to Hawaii and had a beautiful, natural-looking tan the whole trip. No problem with streaks, orangey color, or rub off. Tried several other brands before and none worked as well – not even close. After the trip, I was at a family party and someone asked my daughter where I got my beautiful tanned skin. She told them I had just come back from Hawaii (Ha! even she was fooled and didn’t realize it was a fake). Great stuff.
