The Royal Wedding DVD Review

I recently received a copy of The Royal Wedding – William & Catherine on DVD for review. It’s a wonderful souvenir of the royal wedding that took place on April 29, 2011. The dvd came out on May 24th.
In case you live under a rock and don’t know what I’m talking about, it’s the big royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton. This dvd has the full 2 hours of the wedding! It starts by showing everyone arriving at the church in their fancy vehicles (official BBC pre-wedding coverage). It shows everyone getting out of the cars, including when Kate’s lovely dress was revealed. Then, it has the entire wedding ceremony! It does a wonderful job of showing all of the pageantry of a royal wedding. It even captured their wonderful I do’s. Here is a clip from the video.
It also shows the BBC’s official post-wedding coverage including them leaving the church. It also shows their kiss on the balcony. I loved the balcony scene as one of the little girls (I think she’s three years old) seemed to not enjoy herself one bit. She was making faces and covering her ears. I’m speaking of the same little girl who held a toy in the official wedding pictures. I think she is simply adorable.
I thought the whole wedding was simply beautiful. I think it’s a bit long, but that’s probably just me. One of my favorite parts of the dvd was the “William and Kate: A Royal Engagement” documentary. It’s a 50 minute bonus program which shows the story of how they came to be engaged, from their meeting to the engagement. I thought it was nice to see interviews with their friends/experts as well as see photos of the two when they were younger. It was a nice compliment to the wedding.
Disclosure: I received a free copy of the dvd. No compensation was received. The opinions expressed are my own.
