Earlier this month, I had the privilege to attend the first Mixed Conference. I had meant to do a post detailing my experience there (since I usually highlight the things I do at conferences, like the Reviewer’s Retreat recap and A list of 5 things I learned at the Type A Conference). However, since dad passed away on the last day of the conference, I’ve been procrastinating it (plus, I’ve had all of these holiday posts to do). However, now there is another incentive to post a recap… a contest to win something fabulous from one of the sponsors. So, I guess now is a good time as any to do a post on the Mixed Conference.
I started out the conference by having dinner with the lovely ladies from Dreamfields. They make some delicious pasta that is better for you (especially diabetics). I am interested in their products since we eat lots of pasta and I figure healthier is always better, right? Dreamfields was a fabulous sponsor of the conference and I can’t wait to work with them in the near future. 😉
Saturday was also amazing! I got to attend several classes, one of which included decorating a cake and meeting Duff! Look at us with the cake I decorated with another blogger!
You can find other pictures from Mixed Con, including photos of the cookies I decorated and some OXO swag on my Instagram profile. As you can see, aside from the heartbreaking end to the conference, it was a fabulous experience. I got to eat lots of good food, learn lots of new things about food blogging and decorating while meeting new people. It was great to be able to connect with other people (not everyone in attendance was a blogger or company rep) including brands. I can’t wait to feature some of the conference sponsors in the future.
I had really wanted to win something from the big sponsor, Kitchenaid at the closing party. However, I did’t. Here’s to hoping I win this contest and get to work with them in the future, too. I also really want to attend Mixed Conference next year. 🙂 It would be fabulous if it was close to me again.
Disclosure: By posting my recap, I am being entered into a contest. No compensation was received. The opinions expressed are my own.
