Titanic Museum Movie Gallery

I’ve been so blessed to be able to visit the Titanic Museum Attraction in Pigeon Forge, TN a couple of times now. Every time I go back, they have added somethings and it’s fun to encounter the new stuff. As you may (or may not) know, 2012 marks the 100 year anniversary since the Titanic set sail and sank in the ocean (April to be exact). So, the Titanic Pigeon Forge is trying to commemorate that in some big ways. I was lucky enough to be able to tour it again this past Saturday with my boyfriend.
One of the most recent additions to the museum is a behind the scenes movie exhibit for the Titanic movie. As you can see in the photo above, it includes several cool things. For starters, it has a couple hats actually worn in the movie. It also has some other items from the set, such as a jacket and signed scripts. It also features several fun facts about the movie. It covers things about visual effects, the actors, clothing, and building of the set. I thought it was all so interesting to see. They even had a necklace worth $250,000 that was a replica of the one Rose wore in the movie and Jack sketched her wearing. It also had some cool Rose doll with some fancy outfits. It was fun trying to remember when the different outfits were worn in the movie.

Another thing that was going on while we were there was the ice carving competition. I thought it was interesting to watch the competitors work at carving out something pretty from huge blocks of ice. The picture above gives you a taste of what we saw. We actually didn’t stay too long as it was kind of cold outside.
One other nice thing I wanted to comment on was the Rose Petal Memorial Tribute. Everyone that goes thru the museum now can add a red rose petal to a large container in the Memorial Room. Then,
on April 15, 2012 – exactly 100 years after the RMS Titanic was lost – each of the rose petals will be carefully laid onto the surface of the Atlantic Ocean by the United States Coast Guard International Ice Patrol directly where the Titanic sank.
Wow! Isn’t that something? A petal I placed into a container will actually be taken out to sea in remembrance of those who were on the Titanic. I think that is such a powerful thing.
I can honestly say that I once again enjoyed myself at the museum. It was fun seeing all of the new items as well as some of my favorite oldies (gotta love the Grand Staircase). Every visit to the museum I learn something new. I even enjoy getting to learn a different passenger’s story. For instance, this time I was Hilda Hellstrom. She was a 22 year old from Sweden. Her boarding papers are in the museum and she survived the sinking! Gosh, there is so much to see at the museum. Plus, right now is definitely a teachable moment with the 100 year anniversary quickly approaching.
Have you visited either one of the Titanic Attractions yet? What did you think of it?
Disclosure: I received free passes to the museum. No compensation was received. The opinions expressed are my own.

We have one of these in Branson, MO and I have always wanted to go, but $20/ticket has kept it from happening so far. It sounds like the cost is totally worth saving up for from your review. I am going to make this part of our summer plans for this year. Thanks for telling me so much about it!
We’ve visited the Titanic in Pigeon Forge, Tn. We had 3 grandkids with us…they really enjoyed it although the youngest was 5 and didn’t understand it all. My husband and I enjoyed it very much as well but would have preferred having more time to look and read all the displays (young grandkids aren’t the most patient!). I’d love to go again, just my husband and I, and take more time going through the museum. I’d really recommend it to anyone who hasn’t gone through it. It’s wonderful display and tribute to a big event in history.
This looks really interesting. I love to go to the actual titanic exhibit featuring all the items they have found. They have or had an exhibit/ museum close to me. Well in Vancouver,B.C on the mainland to me.I think it may travel around, not sure.I love the outfits and hats they wear.

I’ve only been once and I’m sure it has grown since the last I was there. When I saw your check in on FB I figured there would be a post about it
Glad you got to visit again.

Wow. That place looks super cool.
Very cool! We went to a Titanic exhibit years ago at the Florida International Museum and it was breathtaking. The rose petal memorial is very cool too!
