
I’ve recently been doing a new workout from Jari Love. I had never heard of her prior to receiving this DVD. However, apparently, she has been in the business for a while. Her newest workout features longer cardio intrevals to help us burn more calories. This workout is called the Jari Love Get Extremely Ripped 1000 Hardcore.
I thought this was a different approach to working out, for me. The workout requires you to have various weights to lift and a step is nice to have, too. The workout can be done without the step, which is what I did. There are two people in the group who do the workout without a step. So, there is someone to follow. I just thought it was hard to mimic the moves on the floor alone. I also didn’t like that you really need a couple of different sets of weights for different strength segments. Being a poor college student, I don’t have the funds to purchase multiple sets.
The workout itself is also different. It can be broken up into 30+ minute total body workouts which rotates between cardio and strength training. You can also do just the cardio portions or just the lifting weights parts. I found the weight lifting to be fun and effective. I liked that I didn’t have to work with the weights for extended periods of time. However, I did not like the cardio. I felt like there was too much repeition and I was somewhat bored with the workout. Granted, it got my heart pumping and me sweating. I just didn’t get that into it with the constant stepping up/down/around stuff. I want to point out that I really liked some of the music in this DVD. It’s often playing something that is really great for that particular move and it is motivating.
Overall, it’s a good workout if you want to sweat lots and get a good heart workout. There’s also some killer ab moves at the end of the workouts. However, if you don’t like to repeat moves several times (like me), then you may get tired of this DVD quickly.
