Gosh, I have been able to try so many different workouts recently. It’s been fun getting to stay in shape while trying various exercises. Trying new exercises keeps me interested and my body has to work to keep up. Haha! One of the newest workouts I’ve tried is Kimberly Fowler’s Yoga + Weights Workout DVD. Kimberly has been called the “Godmother of Yoga Hybrids” because she has created several different yoga workouts with a twist. This newest DVD has Kimberly at it again.

This 30 minute DVD combines moves from Kimberly’s signature YOGA for Athletes(R) class with 3-pound handheld weights. This helps you to get stronger and ripped. Yoga helps to elongate the body. So, weights help you build muscle. The combination of the two allows you to really sculpt your body to stay looking feminine yet strong. It’s truly a great combination.

The workout itself is pretty challenging yet fun, I think. It flashes between showing Kimberly Fowler actually doing the moves and a class she is teaching doing the moves. It has her voice over top of the video rather than her talking while doing the moves. I believe she wants people to do this workout in addition to their regular yoga workouts. That being said, I feel like I could have used a little more guidance on the poses. I have to look at the screen to see how to do it as she provides some support with her words, but doesn’t say exactly how to do the moves.

Overall, I thought it was a unique concept for a workout. I could feel it building my leg muscles through the poses you stand in (like the Chair) and my abs were working with the up and down motion (from standing to back down on the floor). Then, your arms get the workout with the weights. So, it ends up being a whole body workout in just 30 minutes! I love DVDs that work the entire body and don’t take an hour. Haha! I think this is a new and interesting workout that is worth trying, even if it’s just to try something new.
