I think graphics are fun to look at and my boyfriend is a very visual person. He loves graphs and enjoys putting information into charts (yes, he adores Excel). So, I knew the book “I Love Charts” would be a fun book for us. I Love Charts was started as a blog in September of 2009 by Jason Oberholtzer and Cody Westphal. They started out with only seven followers and within two years “I Love Charts” grew to become an online sensation followed by thousands on Tumblr and Twitter.

I Love Charts features charts and graph of all kinds. The information contained is very interesting and humorous. For instance, there is this graph which shows happiness levels throughout the day…

Haha! Gotta love food. Really, this book is filled with tons of different charts and graphs. Some of the information is just for fun (like the ratio of how much information your roomie tells you versus what you want to know and need to know) and some of it is good to know (like a chart showing sports seasons). I really enjoyed the one graphic which shows the amount of time it takes a person to respond to you on Twitter (Instantaneous is creepy while 24+ hours means you are a parent or old person. Also, there is a standard deviation of 6 hours.)

Obviously, this book is lots of fun to look at. I think it’s great for summer since I’m not in the mood for doing a lot of thinking. Haha! It could also be good to read during stressful times as it might make you happier to see some of the stats or thoughts contained in the book. Overall, I think it’s a fabulous book.
