I hosted an American Reunion Movie Giveaway recently. Now, I’d like to give you my thoughts on it since I received a copy of it. I will admit that I was too young to watch American Pie when it first came out. However, I have seen bits and pieces of it and the other films (including American Wedding) on tv since then. So, I thought I knew what I was getting myself into as I sat down to watch it one night.
I feel like this movie is very much like the older ones. I was surprised to see how many of the old characters came back for this movie. Even people who missed the wedding returned for this movie. Granted, it is very odd that they didn’t have a 10 year reunion. Perhaps, it took them this long to work out the plot or get everyone to agree to the movie. I’m not sure, I just think it’s random for the class of 1999 to have a reunion in 2012.
I was pleased to see so many of the old characters. It was nice to see an update on the people. There was also a never ending supply of awkward moments. There were many mature scenes in this one, including a particular one in the kitchen where a man’s area is shown. There is definitely a reason it’s rated R. I don’t think any young people should see this one. However, if you have seen the previous movies, you might enjoy this one just to re-visit your favorite character(s).
I think the storyline was a bit predictable at times. You could see that certain things were going to happen, yet you might not know how the writers were going to accomplish it. There were also a few scenes where I thought, wow, this can’t go well and I was right. I watched this one by myself and I think that’s a good idea. This one is for viewing alone or with really good friends (not family).
So, have you seen American Reunion? What did you think of it?
Disclosure: I received a free copy of American Reunion. No compensation was received. The opinions expressed are my own.

Thanks for the review. I wasn’t a fan of any of them so probably won’t be watching this one any time soon!
i also this it was a tad predictable, but that seems to be an issue with Hollywood these days IMO. thanks for the review though. i pretty much agree lol

I was too young to see American Pie when it first came out, too, and I haven’t seen it yet. I do like it when the old actors return for subsequent sequels. Thanks for the review.
I haven’t seen this one, but wondered it if was funny. So often, the movies get more stupid as the sequels go on. At least all the actors came back. I’ll have to try to catch it on DVD.
I have seen all of the American Pie movies, even if I was a little young to see the first, and they have all been enjoyable. Personally, I don’t think anything past the hilarity of the movie matters. My girlfriend and I both work at Dish and we see movie posters for it everywhere, so we decided to rent it and check out the new one. We got it from Blockbuster @ Home and decided to make a movie night out of it. It wasn’t as funny as the first movie, but it was still a good one to watch. I would recommend it to anybody who has seen at least one of the previous movies.
