I have recently been trying out some Amy Dixon Fitness DVDs. I had never heard of Amy Dixon before this, but I am pretty impressed with the DVDs and her workouts. One of them is a volume 2 from a previous workout. It’s called Breathless Body Volume 2: The Edge. The other one is another DVD in her series of Give Me 10 and is for your midsection. It’s Core Cuts. Between these two DVDs, you can get a full body workout for sure.
The Breathless Body: The Edge is great by itself as it tries to target all of your main groups of muscles. It has a warm-up, four separate tracks, a finisher, and a cool-down. Each track has 3 different moves which you repeat 3 times. There are even three different levels you can follow for each one. Amy Dixon’s whole idea with this workout is that she wants you to get close to losing but not actually lose it. She wants you to work really hard, but at a pace that is good for you. She encourages you several times over the workout to do what is right for you. I admit, I never did level 3. I did mostly 1 and some 2. For some reason, the third move in every one was the hardest for me. Also, I never could do the entire DVD at one time. Oh, and the finisher was really tough. The workouts give you 15 seconds to rest between each exercise. However, the finisher combines all 12 moves into 6 minutes. You do each one for 30 seconds and don’t rest in between. Like I said, it’s hard. Trust me, by the time you are done with that one you will be sweating. Also, I did notice that my legs got bigger and more toned while doing this workout.
Give Me 10: Core Cuts works on your abs. There are six different workouts at about 10 minutes each. Each workout takes a different approach to working your stomach. There’s two that use a core ball. I don’t have one of those, so I didn’t really try them out. There’s one with yoga and another uses pilates. Another one is Tight n’ Toned Tummy which is my favorite because it uses dumbbells and is really fun. I also like Hard Core Definitions. I think I like those the most because they aren’t flowing but more hardcore about it. You can definitely target all sorts of muscles with just 10 minutes using this dvd. I can feel it in my abs, lower back, and side. All of that in just 10 minutes. It is a great dvd for those of us who need to work on our midsection for sure.
