Complete Cake Mix Magic Book Review

You already know that I love to eat and bake. However, I haven’t told you that I got one of the best graduation gifts. It’s a Kitchenaid stand mixer. Woot! I am loving being able to use it to make stuff now. When I received a copy of the book Complete Cake Mix Magic, I knew I wanted to use my mixer to make one of the recipes in the book. I spent a few minutes looking over the book when it first arrived because I wanted to make something soon without having to go out and purchase more ingredients. I selected the chocolate peanut butter cake and it turned out great!

The recipe uses a chocolate cake mix with peanut butter. Then, it’s a peanut butter frosting. So, it’s a really nice combination of chocolate and peanut butter. I really liked the taste of it. I just wish I had more experience spreading and dividing the frosting because I should have put more in between the layers and less on top of it. Oh, well. It’s a learning experience and it still tasted great. It was just a little dry in the middle without the proper amount of frosting. It wasn’t so much of a big deal that people didn’t eat it.
I am really happy with this book. I love that I can use just about any box of cake mix and pick out a recipe to use it with from the book. I feel like I’m really baking versus just using a mix since it adds things. It also puts a new spin on cake mixes I’ve made countless times in the past. There are 300 recipes listed and it contains everything from Rainbow Dessert Cake and Hummingbird Cake to Chocolate Raspberry Almond Oat Bars and Chocolate Candy Cane Cake. Plus, it contains several great tips for general baking purposes. As you can see, I’m definitely a fan of the book and I anticipate using it more in the future.
So, what do you think of the Complete Cake Mix Magic book?
Disclosure: I received a free copy of the book. No compensation was received. The opinions expressed are my own.
