Earlier this week I told you about the upcoming Abe’s Market Twitter Party that is happening on Tuesday at 8 pm CST (9 pm EST). I also told you to be on the lookout for a review of something delicious from Abe’s Market. When I was allowed to pick anything from the site, I had a really hard time making my selection. I originally wanted cupcakes, but that company was on break. So, I went with the cupcakes in a jar from The Grain Exchange.

Each order comes with 3 (8 oz.) mason jars full of cupcakes. Each jar contains 2 gluten-free cupcakes. I received the jar full of chocolate gluten-free cupcakes and red velvet jar full of cupcakes (also gluten-free). I think it’s fabulous that they are allowing everyone to enjoy cupcakes since they are gluten-free. I was afraid that they would be dry and not taste good. However, I am happy to say that they are the opposite. They tasted delicious! They went perfectly with a glass of milk because they were rich and sweet. My favorite was the red velvet. I liked the red velvet and vanilla frosting combination. The chocolate was good, but I prefer vanilla frosting. You couldn’t tell either of them were gluten-free.

I actually shared these cupcakes since I had 6 jars total. I gave a chocolate jar to my mom and shared a chocolate and a red velvet one with my boyfriend. My mom really enjoyed her cupcakes. She thought they were really rich. My boyfriend actually preferred the chocolate, so I ate more of the red velvet while he ate the chocolate. Neither one of them even noticed they were natural or gluten-free (as in different from other cupcakes). So, they pass the taste test that is my family without being noticed. icon wink Cupcakes in a Jar from Abes Market Review

My biggest complaint about the jar full of cupcakes is the lack of frosting. As you can see, some of the jars really lack frosting in the middle of them. In fact, you can see into the jar and out the other side because there isn’t anything there in the middle. I thought the frosting was wonderful. It went well with the texture of the cake and it tasted fabulous. However, I wanted more of it. Other than that, they were perfect.

Have you ever had cupcakes in a jar? What about gluten-free cupcakes? How were they? Have you ever made a purchase from Abe’s Market?

Disclosure: I received the cupcakes in a jar for free. No compensation was received. The opinions expressed are my own.
