You might have noticed the recent addition of this awesome button on the right hand side of my blog. That’s because I’ve been chosen to be an Official Discover Fan Loyalty Poll Correspondent. Yay! You see, Discover is the title sponsor of the 2013 Discover BCS National Championship Game and 2013 Discover Orange Bowl. As such, Discover is conducting The Discover Fan Loyalty Poll which is a 15-week survey where college football fans are asked questions to determine the week’s top teams. Since I’m an Official Correspondent, I’m going to be sharing several (if not all of the remaining) weeks’ results. They just released results for Week 8, based on fan superstitions. Let’s take a look.

This week we learned that only 12% of college football fans believe that their game day rituals or superstitions play a part in helping their teams win. Also, of that 12 percent, 58 percent said they have shared their superstitions with family and friends, while 37 percent prefer to keep it to themselves. I think that’s interesting because I assumed many people had a game day superstition. However, I guess that many people don’t actually believe they work. Additionally, I can totally understand people telling friends & family if their ritual “helped” their team win. I mean, wouldn’t we all like to think that we helped our favorite team win a big game? That’s some pretty big bragging rights (especially here in southwestern Virginia where there are some hardcore Hokie fans).
In case you were curious, the percentage of people who believe in their superstitions varies from conference to conference. For instance, in the ACC, 14 percent do. Meanwhile, only 7% do in the Big East. Then, here is the list of fan’s rankings from this week along with their percentages:
· Alabama, 48 percent
· Florida, 9 percent
· Oregon, 7 percent
· Notre Dame, 7 percent
· Kansas State, 6 percent
· LSU, 1 percent
· Oregon State, 1 percent
· Oklahoma, 1 percent
· Some other team, 10 percent
· Not sure, 10 percent
I think those are some interesting stats. What do you think? To kick off my time as an Official Correspondent, I’m going to host a giveaway. You can enter the giveaway from Discover below to let me know about your game day superstitions for your chance to win.

I don’t have any game day rituals. My husband will wear his Clemson t-shirt.
I must always wear my #34 jersey
I’m a Viking’s fan from MN and live here as well, my boyfriend who is from Green Bay, WI is a packer fan. We don’t watch the packer, Vikings game together due to his belief that I make them lose and we would probably strangle each other, lol
I wear my team’s colors! Everytime!~
