Element Accelerated Pilates with Resistance Band DVD Giveaway

I was just beginning to get bored with my workout, when I received a new DVD to do. It’s similar to the Element Total Body Pilates with Mini Ball Kit I reviewed last year around this time. It’s pilates from Lisa Hubbard and it involves an additional piece of equipment (which comes with the DVD) called a resistance band. It is essentially a long and stretchy piece of material that helps you to work more muscles and get better angles on things.
The DVD consists of a 30 minute workout as well as a 10-minute ab routine. So, you can do them separately or together. Although, the 30 minute workout does target your abs as well. It’s just that the 10 minute one is more intense for your mid-section and it’s a longer period of time. Both of them do a nice job on trying to get my waist smaller and more toned. I love that Lisa has designed them so that they work your abs while often working other parts of your body at the same time. For instance, you may lean forward and work your arms while targeting the abs. It’s a great way to work multiple parts in a short span of time.
Overall, I really like this workout. I felt that the resistance band added something to the workout. It allowed me to really work on some places that are hard to target otherwise. Plus, the added resistance means the workout is/feels more effective than regular pilates. I did find that my band wanted to bunch up more so than the one used in the video. However, I believe that with proper care, the band will last a while. Additionally, I found this workout to be fun. I don’t know if it’s the novelty of it or if it’s just really fun for me. Either way, I don’t dread doing this workout because I enjoy it and I can feel it working my muscles.
