Reviewer’s Retreat 2013: My Experience in Pine Mountain, Georgia

If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram, then you should be well aware of the fact that I did some traveling this week. I got up at 3 am on Sunday (yikes!) to travel to Pine Mountain, Georgia. I was there to attend Reviewer’s Retreat ’13. I had a great time and I’m glad I went. So, I thought I would post about it and tell you about my experience there.

Obviously, I went specifically to attend the conference. However, I tried to gleam as much as possible from this short trip. That meant trying this delicious red velvet cheesecake dessert with Shanaka from Mama Bee Does as part of her early birthday celebration. It also meant going on the Dole Nutrition hike (Unfortunately, the Dole rep backed out at the last minute and didn’t come. So, I didn’t get to speak with anyone from Dole). I’m happy to report that I won a prize on the hike. I ended up giving my roommate Kayla from Kayla Aimee the yoga mat and my mom claimed the garden kit as soon as I got home. Haha! So, at least I’m sharing some of the magnificent Reviewer’s Retreat swag.

Speaking of the swag, we got lots of it. Everyone was welcomed with a nice registration bag. The most exciting thing in it (for me) was a Brew Over Ice tumbler. I can’t wait to use mine. Then, on Sunday night, the fabulous (and very generous) sponsor, CVS did a room drop for all attendees. They gave everyone a fabulous gift basket of CVS-branded goodies. They also gave out some more cookies, their new antacid flavors chews, and pistachios at the expo on Monday. On the way back home Tuesday, I also received a Tweet that I was selected as the winner of a CVS gift card, too. Yay! CVS was a truly great sponsor at Reviewer’s Retreat and I sincerely hope I can work with them in the future.

Sunday was full of riding followed by the conference. I also finally got to meet my friend Mariah of Formula Mom on Sunday night. She and I chatted for over an hour on Sunday. Monday was all about the sessions and visiting with sponsors. Shanaka and I even filmed a video for Brew Over Ice as we tried their new Vitamin Burst… I have no idea what they plan to do with it. Haha! We actually had a very nice chat with the Brew Over Ice people and I certainly wouldn’t mind working with them either. 😉

Later Monday night, the roomates just hung out. Finally, on Tuesday, everything wrapped up and we made the long drive back home. I truly enjoyed meeting new people and seeing some old friends again. I’m glad I went and I’m hoping I can go to the conference again next year. In fact, Reviewer’s Retreat is being re-branded to iRetreat next year. As such, I guess this will be my last post on it under this name. So, will I see you in Hershey, PA next year?

Oh, one last thing I want to add. If you like the dress I wore to the Musselman’s Cocktail Party on Sunday night (which I’m also wearing in the picture on the right in the middle of the collage), I got it for free from Kiyonna. They sent it to me for free and I will be posting about them again after BlogHer. So, stay tuned for that post.
