Today, September 20th, Bridesmaids, the movie comes out on DVD! Woot! Back in August, I told you I was going to be doing a Bridesmaids review. I was lucky enough to receive an early copy of the movie as well as supplies for an awesome party! 😀
story above won’t display correctly. However, if you click through, you can see what all I was sent for my party. I must admit, I sort of double dipped so to speak with the supplies. You see, my mom’s birthday was last week. So, I decorated for both. Haha! I took the black streamer and put a “51” on the wall for her 51st birthday. 😉 I know it seems weird, but I actually did that 10 years ago for both of parents’ birthdays. So, it wasn’t out of the ordinary for us. Haha! I also received an awesome Bridesmaids movie shirt that I thought you needed to see. Anyways, on to the movie and my thoughts…
First off, I’m glad I didn’t actually watch it with my mom. It would have been terribly awkward to watch it with her I think. I mean she’s not overly sensitive or anything. However, this movie talked about sex a lot! I had actually been warned by my friend Ashley who had heard from others that it was like watching a porn. So, I already knew that it’s important to watch this film with a group of people who you are close to or don’t think will be easily offended. I mean it is rated “R”. There is lots of cussing and tons of sexually suggestive scenes. It was NOT like watching a pornographic film. However, it would have been awkward with certain individuals (think family and parents).
I thought the movie was really funny. There were several funny moments throughout the movie. There was one particular part in in the movie where we had to pause it because my boyfriend was laughing was so hard. The exact thing that made us laugh so hard escapes my mind. However, that’s probably because there was so many funny moments. We watched the unrated version which is actually a bit longer at 2 hours and 11 minutes (versus the theatrical 2 hour and 5 minutes). So, they managed to pack in several good scenes.
If we learned anything from this film, it’s that we shouldn’t let our future weddings get in the way of our friendships and don’t allow them to get us so stressed out that we lose sight of what we really want and who our true friends are.
Disclosure: Universal Home Entertainment sponsored my party by providing me with a copy of the dvd as well as party supplies and a gift card. The opinions expressed are my own.
