I’m sure everyone recognizes the adorable character above. It’s a California Raisin! I think rasisin are delicious, however I can’t eat them just plain. I need them in a recipe of some sort. I really like the cinnamon raisin combination myself. Although, I’m sure there are tons of other combos to try.
One of the good things about California Raisins is their health benefits. Did you know that California Raisins are fat- and cholesterol-free, naturally low in sodium, deliver dietary fiber and potassium, and are packed with antioxidants? Plus, a 1/4 cup serving has only 130 calories! Wow! Talk about eating healthy! They would fit right in with my Get Healthy lifestyle!
The California Raisin Facebook Page is having a special recipe contest between now and October 5th! It’s the Give Kids Their Day in the Sun Recipe Contest! If you upload a tasty recipe, you will be entered to win a $10,000 premium playground structure plus a year’s supply of California Raisins, and a $1,000 donation to the food bank of your choice! Wow! What a lovely prize!
Five finalists will each win a $100 gift card and will be selected based on the creative use of California Raisins (25%); healthfulness (25%); ease-of-preparation (25%); and taste (25%). Finalists will be announced October 19, 2011 and then it will be up to the California Raisin Facebook fans to determine the grand prize winner. A full set of contest rules can be found at Love Your Raisins.
So, check out the contest and let me know if you enter/win! 😀
