Gosh, I just love reviewing movies. I recently had the chance to watch the Crazy Stupid Love movie on DVD. It came out on DVD and Blu-ray on November 1st from Warner Home Entertainment Group. I was excited to watch this movie because of its stars. It has Steve Carell (“The Office” and Date Night movie), Oscar nominee Ryan Gosling (“The Notebook” and “Half Nelson”), Julianne Moore, Marisa Tomei, Kevin Bacon, Jane Carroll Lynch, and Emma Stone! Wow! Talk about an all-star cast! I’ve said it several times, I love The Office. However, you may not know that I’m a big of Ryan Gosling’s. Gah! 😉 I’ve also come to enjoy Emma Stone as well – I even saw “The Help” recently. Needless to say, it didn’t take much to get me interested in this film.
The basic storyline of the movie is this… Cal Weaver’s (Steve Carell) wife, Emily (Moore) cheats on him. So, they become separated and Cal ends up going to a local bar. While there, he observes Jacob Palmer (Gosling) getting with lots of ladies. Jacob attempts to help Cal out by giving him advice in multiple areas. Meanwhile, Jacob attempts to hook up with a woman named Hannah (Stone) and ends up falling in love with her.
Here is the trailer for the movie.
I watched this movie with my boyfriend. We thought it had several hilarious moments. We really liked the ending and weren’t expecting the surprise which really ties the storylines together nicely. I thought each of the performances were great. I bet they had a lot of fun filming this. I’m even more convinced of my love for Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling, and Emma Stone after viewing this film.
The movie is definitely appropriate for older audiences (it’s rated PG-13) with its obviously sexually suggestive scenes. Then again, it’s PG-13 and not R-rated. So, it’s a good in between movie. I think it makes for a good date movie with the cast and laughs. It’s very relatable, too. I would recommend this movie and really enjoyed it.
Disclosure: I received a free copy of Crazy Stupid Love on DVD. No compensation was received. The opinions expressed are my own.
