As you know, I traveled to Type A Parent Conference and Reviewer’s Retreat last month. However, I have never told you that I struggle to fall asleep in a new place. I guess that it’s a somewhat normal thing to get used to sleeping in a certain bed at a certain place. However, it does make traveling more difficult. Something I discovered while staying at the Hilton in Charlotte was how much easier it is to fall asleep while I’m away when it’s on a Serta mattress.
I am eagerly waiting for the delivery of my mattress from Serta and I can’t wait to update you on which one I chose as well as how comfy it is. However, I was able to enjoy a good night’s rest while at Type A because we slept on a Serta. It was so amazing to come back from a long day of volunteering and networking to a soft and plush bed. It wasn’t until I returned home that I learned it was a Serta mattress that had given me such good sleep away from home.
So, what if you aren’t lucky enough to stay in a place which has Serta beds? What do you do? Well, I like to pack comfy pajamas that I know I enjoy sleeping in. I also have to have everything in its place before I lay down. I don’t want to worry whether I can find my socks in the morning or if my alarm is going to go off on time. I have my schedule planned and clothes near the bed to put on in the morning. Then, I get the room as dark as possible. I can’t stand for a light to be shining my face. An eye mask may also be handy. I also know that I am not used to the city or its noises. So, it might be nice to have some sort of white noise machine or ear plugs to block out your neighbors or your snoring roomie. 😉
Those are my tips for sleeping soundly while away from home. Do you have any tips for dealing with summer travel and sleeping in a different bed (besides staying in hotels with Serta mattresses).
