Can you believe that spring is quickly approaching? With that means spring cleaning time is coming soon. I have been blogging since 2009 and I have learned many things along the way. However, being a college student, I don’t have the money to pay my own way to a nice blogging conference to learn more things. I also don’t really have the time to track down sponsors to attend a conference. However, the 2012 Reviewer’s Retreat is being held in Charlotte, North Carolina in early June and I believe it would make for a great first real blogging conference for me. Living in southwestern Virginia, I could easily make the drive to the conference, thus saving on transportation costs. Then, I heard of an opportunity to apply for a scholarship for the conference which takes care of registration and lodging at the Great Wolf Lodge. So, I knew I had to apply.

Being a college student, I am used to sitting in classes and learning things. I thought it was so fascinating that a conference would the classroom type set-up to manage the events. I believe I would excel at that type of conference since I’m already used to it. I believe I would register for the graduate track at the conference. This would also be neat for me as I have been working on both an undergraduate and a graduate degree at college. I will graduate from college (hopefully) in early May. So, this conference in early June would be a great graduation present for myself.

I would love to use this conference to learn how to take my blog to the next level, whatever that may be. I believe we could all use some advanced SEO tips for our blogs. So, I would be interested in hearing that lesson. I’ve also previously mentioned that I would like to take more trips for my blog. So, the session on traveling for your blog sounds like a good one for me. I’d also love to hear about those ambassadorships I keep seeing other bloggers get. I sincerely believe that every class for graduate seems interesting and helpful.

Attending Review U would benefit my blog by allowing me to learn new things and to meet new people. I enjoy getting to meet other bloggers and putting faces with the blogs. I would love to meet some pr in real life as well. I have learned that you have to work to build relationships, especially in the blogging world. These relationships include those with brand representatives and other bloggers as you never know what may come up. Additionally, I have heard some of my other blogging friends are attending. So, I would love the opportunity to catch-up with them.

If I were to receive the Reviewer’s Retreat 2012 Presidential Scholarship, I would be able to grow my blog as well as a person. I would be able to meet more people and to learn from them.

Being a student teacher in kindergarten is tough. I mean besides lesson planning and actually teaching, I feel like I’m constantly washing my hands to get rid of germs. My hands feel cleaner after using some hand santizer or washing them. However, they also feel really dry at the end of the day. So, when I received an email about the new Blistex Intensive Hand Creams, I felt like it was a sign. Haha!

Blistex, known for excellence in lip care, has launched a new product line intended to deliver the same high level of care and comfort to hands. Blistex Intensive Hand Cream is a glycerin-rich formula that requires only a small application to provide a smooth feel and healthy appearance to even the driest skin. This new hand cream is available in scented and fragrance-free versions.

I received a bottle of both of the new hand creams to try. I will start by saying that these are definitely creams. I know that sometimes things labeled as a cream will really just be lotion. However, this is thick and creamy. So, that’s nice. The first time I applied it I could tell it would do my hands some good. The cream is just so thick and soft to the touch. I knew that the consistency was right for a good hand moisturizer. When I first put it on, my hands were initially a bit sticky and the cream took a few moments to really sink into the skin. However, the cream instantly makes my hands softer and smoother to the touch. They physically feel more moisturized. I’m also happy to report that my hands still feel moisturized after a handwash or two. So, this cream is definitely “Intensive” because it does so much to help my hands out.

I was also interested to experience the differences between the scented and fragrance-free creams. I try to wear the fragrance-free while at the school as I’m not sure if any of my students would have a bad reaction to a scent (this is nothing against the scented, I just prefer to play it safe). I can smell the cream. However, it doesn’t leave behind a scent or anything. So, it is good for the school and if I decide to wear perfume on the weekends as it doesn’t compete with it. The scented doesn’t have a strong smell to it (I don’t think). However, it does have a scent to it. I can’t figure out what it smells like and the bottle doesn’t clarify. However, I think it smells clean and soft. Both creams do a wonderful job of saving my hands and I’m happy to have discovered them.

You may recall that back in August of last year, I was lucky enough to attend the Green Giant Valley Visit in Minnesota. While there I got to learn more about Green Giant and their process of growing and harvesting corn. It was such a great experience for me. I loved the trip and getting to know more about a well-known brand. I feel more attached to Green Giant now and grab the brand whenever I want vegetables now (as does my mother).

One of the cool things I got to do while visiting the valley was be interviewed for a video. If you remember, this was my first trip like this. Likewise, this was my first video/interview. So, I was really nervous. Imagine my delighted surprise when I received an email that my interview had been turned into a cool little video that was posted on the Green Giant YouTube’s page! *insert squeal here*

Hehe! I am so proud of that video. I even showed my mom and my boyfriend. My mom told my dad who then made her call my aunt and grandmother. Haha! It’s like I’m a movie star now or something.

You probably already know it, but I’m a snacker. Haha! I love food and to eat all day. I mean that’s what made me gain weight when I first went to college. I have lost weight in the last year. However, it’s still a bit of a struggle to find healthier alternatives to snack on during the day that don’t taste like cardboard. Then, I was pitched to try the new Kraft MilkBite Milk and Granola Bars.

These bars are making a whole new twist to those old granola bars! They are adding milk to them and making them refrigerated! With the addition of milk, these bars contain as much calcium as a glass of milk! They also contain Vitamin D, fiber, 5 grams of protein, and 7 grams of whole grains! So, they are healthy like a traditional granola bar. However, with the addition of milk, they are way tastier.

The bars come in five different flavors – chocolate, strawberry, peanut butter, oatmeal raisin, and mixed berry. I received samples of the chocolate and strawberry to try. The strawberry tastes really good. It is definitely not as dry as the regular granola bars. Plus, they have a sweeter taste (I think). I absolutely loved the chocolate! I have tried other chocolate granola bars. They tend to be dry granola with little bits of chocolate in it. However, these bars have a good chocolate taste to them. The addition of milk makes them taste similar to chocolate chip cookie dough. Granted, they’re not exactly like that. However, it’s close enough that I’m very happy with them.

The new Kraft MilkBite Milk and Granola Bars are really good. I love their flavor, health benefits, and even texture. They are definitely a great on-the-go snack or night time treat for me. So, have you tried the new Kraft MilkBite bars? What did you think of them?

Are you ready for a different kind of workout? I love trying new ones and this one looked kind of fun and exciting. willPower & Grace: Mile High is a high-intensity workout that includes a foot warmup, flexible strength (20 minutes) and almost 30 minutes of heart-pumping cardiovascular work. Yes, there is actually an entire foot warmup section! This workout is to be done completely barefoot as it works your feet, legs, ankles, and toes. You don’t realize how out of shape your feet are until you do this workout, if you are like me. I love doing things barefoot. So, I enjoyed this aspect of the workout.

I thought the cardio work was pretty interesting. Most of the moves seem pretty simple. However, when combined, they give your heart a good workout. Plus, the workout is developed for students of all levels. There are actually three different levels for many of the moves. I never did more than the beginner moves and it was still a good workout. I felt my heart beating rapidly throughout most of the cardio and had a good sweat going.

The flexible strength section is similar to cardio, except it’s not to get your heart going necessarily. It’s really some floor work that increases flexibility and builds muscle. It’s definitely a good workout as well. I have not been able to complete both the cardio and the flexible strength exercises together yet. So, you know they are both good ones. Overall, I think this is a good workout dvd. It’s definitely a good way to mix up your old workout routine.

As you already know, I am trying to build up my wardrobe of classroom appropriate clothing. I have been wanting to review one of the women’s dresses from Shabby Apple for years now. So, I thought now was a perfect time to do that. Shabby Apple is different from other companies because they make their clothing to flatter a woman’s shape. They have created 8 different categories of body shapes. Then, they create dresses to flatter these shapes. So, the dress is made for your body!

I received the Baciami! dress because I’m an apple. The site’s description told me to pick clothing that accentuates my legs and arms. It also said I should look for “loose-fitting waists, empire waists, short sleeves and knee-length skirts.” I was given a few different dresses to pick from and I thought this one fit that description closest with its generous fit and knee-length bottom. I actually really like this dress. I love that the boat neck keeps everything concealed. I can wear this dress and bend over to help a child without worrying about my cleavage showing. Since losing weight, I don’t have any clothing that is form-fitting. I believe this is the first thing I’ve gotten since losing weight that is closer fitting and really shows off the weight I’ve lost in my waist (which is exciting).

I also like the color of this dress. I like that it’s red up top, which means a bra doesn’t show through it. Then, the white lines keep it interesting. I feel the 3/4 length sleeves look perfect on this dress, too. It works well with the pattern. Overall, it’s definitely a great dress, especially for a (student) teacher. I haven’t wore it out yet since it’s cold here. However, I can see myself getting some good use out of this dress in the future.

Gosh! Where does the time go??? I can’t believe I have been on Nutrisystem for four months now. Nutrisystem was one of the brands I had been wanting to work with for some time and it was such an exciting thing to be chosen to work with them. I still can’t believe I had this wonderful opportunity.

It was a hectic, stressful four months for me. However, that definitely was not because of the diet. If anything, Nutrisystem helped me survive the last four months of craziness. Did you know that the Chinese New Year began on January 23rd? It’s the year of the Water Dragon! Food is an important part of the Chinese Lunar New Year celebration and certain foods are included for their symbolic value: noodles are served for longevity, oranges for wealth and prosperity and a whole fish for abundance and togetherness. So, to kick off the Chinese New Year, I have the perfect post for you! It involves a giveaway and food!

House of Tsang makes authentic Asian sauces. These sauces make it so easy to create quick, easy, and tasty Asian dishes at home! My boyfriend and I love Chinese food. So, we were pretty excited to try these sauces. My boyfriend actually enjoys eating chicken and rice pretty regularly. So, we thought it would be nice to try some of the House of Tsang Sweet & Sour Sauce with some chicken and rice (plus some peppers). Then, we completed the meal with spring rolls and egg rolls with a side of Tsao Sauce. My plate is pictured above.

The Sweet & Sour Sauce tasted great on the chicken, rice, and vegetables. I actually think we could have added more towards the end of the cooking, to give it more flavor. However, it tasted really good as is. The Tsao sauce tasted pretty good with the rolls. I definitely would not eat the sauce plain or lots of it on something small. I believe these are my two favorite House of Tsang sauces. They taste good and are really easy to add to any meal. I’m definitely a fan.

Being an education major and future educator, I just love getting to review new office supplies. I was actually in need of a new ring binder to use for my lesson plans for student teaching. You see, I have my mentors approve my lesson plans by email. However, I have a supervisor from my college who visits to observe and evaluate me. They want to see lesson plans and other items which I need to keep together neatly.

So, I was very happy to be selected to review the Avery Heavy Duty Ring Reference Binder. It is a white, 1.5 inch three-ring binder. I love that it has a cover on the front which allows you to insert your own cover page. I think it looks much more professional with it. I also like that it has that easy-press button to open the rings. This seems much safer to me. Overall, it’s a very nice binder.

I was also considering adding some binder labels to my notebook. Thankfully, I received a package of the Avery Custom Binder Spine Inserts. As I mentioned above, the binder features a clear, plastic cover over the binder which allows you to insert a title page. Well, the plastic is also on the side which allows you to place a spine label. This pack’s labels fit perfectly in that space. You can print them on the paper. However, I just went with the quickest option – markers. Doesn’t it look pretty?

No binder is complete without some binder tabs. So, Shoplet also sent me some Avery Note Tabs. These are not tab dividers. Rather, they stick to a piece of paper and allow you to mark a spot in the binder. So, I could use mine to mark the day in my binder. This would make it easier for my supervisor to follow along when observing. The tabs are also clear so that you can read text through them! How awesome is that! That means I can actually place one on that particular lesson plan and my professor can still read it!

Once again, Shoplet has provided me with some wonderful office products. They seem to know what I need before I do. Plus, the options are always great.

I know that many people are feeling down these days. So, it’s nice to read something that reminds us to be happy. I mean with a cover of a bunny with a carrot, how could you not automatically be in a better mood?

I was especially drawn to the short story called “Asperger’s and Friendship” because of the Asperger’s Syndrome portion. I think it’s wonderful they included a story of an Aspie being happy, this shows others with the syndrome that they can be happy with the support of friends as well. I also looked forward to reading “Cupcakes and Karma” because of my love for cupcakes. However, the story was just about not saying “yes” to every request, such as 5,000 cupcakes for the kindergarten class by noon tomorrow and to enjoy life. Overall, this is another nice book in the series.
