Wow! I can’t believe it’s finally time. I’ve been waiting for this day for years (literally). I began blogging in June 2009 and then discovered the blogging conference BlogHer right there after on Twitter. However, it was too late to go (and it was sold out of tickets anyways). It was then that I first became interested in blogger conferences. I was interested in meeting other bloggers, brand reps, and seeing all of the other things conferences include. Four (long) years later and I’m finally heading to BlogHer today! Yay! I am writing my posts ahead of time, so you have something to read while I’m away and busy doing all kinds of things. For instance, today, I’m going to travel to Chicago for the conference.
Travel to Chicago
I’m planning to begin my travels to Chicago at around 6 am, so I can pick up my friend Shanaka (Mama Bee Does). From there, my mom is going to drive us to the airport. Then, we will get on an airplane and really travel to Chicago. I’m hoping we don’t hit any snags or delays. I actually have stuff to do almost as soon as we land. Once we get to Chicago, we will head to the Sheraton Chicago to check-in to our room. Then, I will go to my BlogHer volunteer training session. Almost immediately after that, I have a dinner with some fabulous people (here’s to hoping it brings more posts with giveaways). Then, I’ll take a moment to breathe before going with Shanaka on that SeaDog Cruise I told you about last month.
Tomorrow is sure to be packed as well. I will be volunteering for four hours at the registration desk at the Sheraton during the day. Then, I have some private events to hit up at night. Then, on Friday I’ll kick-off the official BlogHer in style by volunteering for 4 more hours. After that, I plan to hit up the expo hall and then go to a fancy luncheon with a brand I already work with (I’m so excited to meet the rep). I have more private events on Friday night and Saturday morning. I’ll end my BlogHer experience by going to the expo hall again (hopefully) on Saturday afternoon and Cheeseburgher that night. Then, it’s up early Sunday morning to catch our flight back.
As you can see, when I travel to Chicago, I’ll be doing lots of stuff. I hope I get some more opportunities out of my trip. Plus, since I’ll actually be leaving the hotel during this conference, I should get to actually see the city. You can bet you will be reading lots about my trip to Chicago upon my return. There will be two posts on what I wear (it’s nothing too fancy), the cruise, and possibly other fun things like swag/private events. So, is there anything you would like me to find out while I’m in Chicago? Do you think there’s something I have to see when I travel to Chicago? Is there a BlogHer sponsor you’d love for me to connect with and feature here? Let me know in the comments!
