With today being the last day of the year, I thought it’s be fun to take a look back at 2014. I think it definitely has to be one of the best years ever!
Look Back at 2014
When I look back at 2014, I realize just how busy I actually was. I started out the year by finishing up my first teaching job. It was a long, exhausting and stressful experience to teach 6th grade math. However, I survived it, only to learn that I needed to look for another teaching position at the end of the school year. Finally, a few days before school started back here, I accepted a special education teaching position.
My full-time job basically took over my life (especially the math position). I credit that with the decline of this blog. 🙁 I’m sad to say that my number (and dare I say quality) of posts here was down during 2014. Not the mention that nose-dive in stats I experienced. After working all day (sometimes spending 10-12 hours at school), I just don’t feel like sitting down and writing anything. Hopefully, 2015 will turn that around.
Along with all of the teaching I did this year, I also did a ton of traveling. My trips were definitely a highlight of 2014. I went to California for the first time this year, twice. I went to Disneyland for the first time with my mom. I then returned to the sunny state to visit San Jose for BlogHer and stopped in Las Vegas on the way back. I also visited New York City for a few days to attend Blogger Bash. In October, I went to Niche Parent at Walt Disney World and then I made my 2nd trip to the fabulous Mouse just last week to see the parks decorated for the holidays with my boyfriend. I am already itching to go back to a Disney park. Let’s hope I make it back at least once in 2015.
It wouldn’t seem right to look back at 2014, without mentioning the fact that I am still learning how to best deal with the loss of my father. I still miss him very much. However, I know that he would want me to be happy. So, I keep planning trips and paying bills.
Lastly, 2014 marked the 5th blog anniversary for Laughing Lindsay. At times, I didn’t know how much longer this little bit of space would last (and I still don’t). However, for the time being, I’ll keep writing if you keep reading. 😉
So, what do you remember about 2014?
