Back to School Health Tips
Here are some super easy tips for starting the new school year on the right foot with a healthy student.
- Do your research now. I know that nobody wants to think about the end of summer yet, but now is a great time to make sure you/your child is up to date on vaccinations. You can view your state’s vaccination requirements online to see if additional vaccinations are necessary before school starts back. By looking now, you will have plenty of time to get them before you need them.
- Get a sports physical for peace of mind. Your child may not plan to play a sport this year. However, a physical is a good idea because it can allow you to catch a more serious issue. For instance, we didn’t know that I had high blood pressure when I was 16 until I got my annual sports physical done for volleyball. Additionally, right now you can get a sports physical at MinuteClinic for only $39!
- College students should also get a college physical. I think all colleges require some sort of health papers to be filled out prior to admission to the college. In fact, I had to get a couple of extra vaccinations and tests run in order to be admitted to college. That’s why college physicals are a good idea. Physicals can give parents peace of mind when they send their student off to college in fall because they know their student is in good health.
- Lastly, I would recommend picking up a FREE $22 coupon book when you visit your local MinuteClinic. (No purchase necessary. Available while supplies last through 12/1/14.) It can help you save money while ensuring that everyone starts the new school year off healthy.
