You may recall that I currently own an old flip phone cell phone. However, my contract with US Cellular is up. So, I’m looking to get a new cell phone while staying with the company (they get the best signal where I live). I glanced at the smartphones they currently offer and quickly narrowed down the field to just a few favorites. The one I’ve been eyeing closely is the Samsung Galaxy S III. With its sleek appearance, wonderful features, and smooth operation, it was a pleasure to test out at the Mixed Conference two weeks ago.
The first thing that caught my eye on this phone was the choice of colors. I love blue. In fact, my flip phone is a shade of blue. So, I was very pleased when I received this phone in Pebble Blue. It looks very similar to my old phone in terms of color. I love how beautiful the phone itself looks. The color is wonderful and the sleek edges are cool. The phone is definitely a pretty one. Another thing about the look of this phone is its size. I initially was very excited about how large it is because I have somewhat large fingers. So, I was really looking forward to the 4.8” HD Super AMOLED™ display. However, I did find it difficult to carry it around like I usually do my flip phone. Just look how much larger it is!
I will say that I was really happy with this phone’s performance. I love an Android operating system and this one is great. The layout is fantastic. I love the main screen with a clock and weather. It’s so handy. Additionally, I was very impressed with the camera on this phone. All of the pictures on my Instagram profile from the Mixed Conference were taken with this phone. Aren’t they simply great photos? All of them came out so clear and crisp. I even used it to take the picture of me and Duff with my decorated cake. 🙂
Overall, this is a great phone. I was a tad disappointed with its reception though. I would be looking at something online and it would suddenly loose connection. Then, I would have to wait for it to gain signal again to resume my browsing. That was annoying. I also noticed that its signal was always less than my flip phone (which I know is to be expected). I was just surprised by the big difference. I did notice that I also had to charge this phone everyday. However, the battery definitely lasted longer than some of the other brands of smartphones I’ve used. It seems like it’s actually right in the middle there. I am still debating on which phone to get, even though I loved this one because I’m not sure I can put up with it loosing a connection so often.
So, what do you think of the Samsung Galaxy S III smartphone? Do you own one? Are you pleased with it?
Disclosure: I received a Samsung Galaxy S III phone to use for two weeks for this review. No compensation was received. The opinions expressed are my own.
