Tooth Enamel Health
I know lots of people experience sensitive teeth. I also know that all of us want to have healthy teeth. That’s why I was happy to try this new tooth enamel health toothpaste from Colgate. Along with samples of Colgate Enamel Health toothpaste, I received some very interesting information that I hope can help some of you.
First off, let’s discuss how your tooth enamel health impacts your whole tooth’s health. When you have a smooth and healthy enamel, germs are less likely to stick to them because it’s harder for them grab a hold of a smooth surface. However, if you have bits missing or chipped, then the enamel becomes rough and thus makes it easier for bacteria to latch on to the tooth.
To prove this, I was able to do a little demo with tiles. One is smooth and shiny (representing a healthy enamel). The other is rough to simulate a tooth with enamel issues. Using chalk to represent germs and bacteria, I attempted to write Laughing Lindsay on them. As you can see, it was significantly easier to write on the rough one than it was the smooth one because there are lots of spaces to soak up the chalk for the rough one.
Not only does the enamel protect your teeth from cavities, when the enamel decays, it can lead to tooth sensitivity. You get tooth sensitivity when there isn’t anything present to act as a buffer between a substance and the nerve. This is why it’s hard to eat a cold substance (such as ice cream) when you don’t have all of your enamel.
Now that we understand why tooth enamel health is so important, I want to share a few Colgate Enamel Health products with you to help you keep your teeth happy. Colgate Enamel Health makes several different toothpastes that contain ingredients to help replenish the natural calcium in your teeth. Along with those toothpastes, they now also have the Colgate Sensitive Toothbrush + Built-in Sensitivity Relief Pen. The combination of these products helps to create a seal against sensitivity pain to shield the exposed nerve. Plus, the resulting smooth tooth makes it harder for bacteria to stick to teeth.
I think it’s fabulous that there are products available to help with tooth enamel health now. I’ve done several posts over the years about oral care products, but I believe this is the first one I’ve mentioned that actually helps teeth to remain healthy for years to come with the aid of the enamel.
So, will you be adding Colgate Enamel Health products to your grocery list this week?
